There are two types of data files in HeavyBid. Local files that reside in an estimate that typically are setup in the Master Estimate. Then there are System Wide files like the Material Codebook and Activity Codebook. To truly understand HeavyBid an estimator must know the difference between the two types of files. An analogy would be like getting into a car and as the driver being confused which is the gas pedal and which is the break pedal. Well maybe not the critical but you get the idea. During trainings I am careful to correct anyone saying “Master Activity Codes” or “Master Materials”. These are System Wide files. “Master” term should only reference a Master Estimate and nothing else as this can lead to incorrect setups and confusion among the estimating team. Be sure your estimating team understands the difference between the two terms.
