On some projects the contractor is able to sell salvaged material such as steel from a building that has to be demolished. Another credit can be in excess dirt that can be sold to other projects. But where is the best place to take the credit? In HeavyBid you can input a negative cost for about any entry value. The best place to put a credit is as an addon as shown below. You don’t want to put it in the costs as a negative value in the Summary will deduct from the markup. For example if you have $100,000 in credits (a negative cost) and a markup of 20% then you will have a negative markup of $20,000 so this is not a good approach. In Addons the markup is correctly calculated and the only value that might have to be adjusted is the bond costs. I show an example of the adjustments below. Both costs do not affect the markup calculated on the Summary Totals tab.
