I was working on an estimate and had this need for a spreadsheet for the biditem. I won’t need it again as it just a one-off spreadsheet. Now you can create a spreadsheet using the internal spreadsheet for an activity but I needed it for a biditem. So I went to Setup>Spreadsheet Calcs and Assemblies and created a spreadsheet and saved it as “Spreadsheet”. I also check the box “Assembly”. Now I am not going to attach any activities but when I check the box it lets me bring the spreadsheet as opposed at only the activity level. Here are the steps to do this.

Step 1 – Create the Spreadsheet. I called mine “Spreadsheet”

Step 2 – Now it is ready to pull into any biditem and be linked to Activites/Resources

Step 3 – Create notes or a spreadsheet calculation and map cells. What is awesome is that any activity that is already in the biditem will display in the Assembly.

Setups like this while simple can provide an estimating team significant productivity benefits. Give it a try.
