I am not employed by HCSS. I am a contract trainer (and much of work is not through HCSS) so one of my goals is to offer independent opinions on HeavyBid. In my opinion for most companies considering purchasing HeavyBid the Basic version can no longer be justified due to all the features that are available in the Advanced. Several times last year I sat in offices who purchased Basic and had HeavyJob (or going to buy it) and they looked at me and said they didn’t mind that the estimators could not see HeavyJob data in HeavyBid. Say what? That makes no sense whatsoever. And when I tell a company a feature they want is available in the Advanced version they suspect I am trying to upsell them. Trust me if I tell a company they need Advanced it is based on years of experience. So this is why the Basic version is basically dead. There are just too many features now in Advanced that the difference in price between the two versions can be quickly recouped in cost savings due to increased estimator productivity. The new Archive feature alone can save hours and hours of hunting for a biditem or activity to copy from and that is just one of many features. Sure I could make do with the Basic Version but I can produce better estimates in less time using Advanced. The list of features now in Advanced prevents any justification in purchasing the Basic version unless maybe it is for a very small company with one estimator (my rule of thumb < $2 million in sales) and there is no plan to get HeavyJob. Below is a link showing the comparisons between the three HeavyBid versions. You have Basic now? Make the right decision to upgrade to Advanced in 2019.
