My first blog was in 2023 but very appropriate as I see this year as one where proactive companies will achieve success, but companies that stick to the old way of doing things (or not doing things) will fall further behind. One area that companies have to get better at is communication with their employees and recognizing new ways of doing that. Successful companies build a “Team” where the employees believe in the buy-in seeing their employer succeed. Sargent is a good example. I think they are a HeavyBid user, but it doesn’t matter for this blog. I know them by their podcast. I highly recommend subscribing to their blog, which is a communication method for their employees, and they do a great job. If I worked there, I would be tuning in to their podcasts – they even gave a thumbs up to their estimating department! Imagine that and what I liked about their comments was it was a genuine thanks for their hard work, which you don’t hear very often from companies. My advice, especially if you are an owner or executive for a construction company, is to ask yourself what are you doing to build and nourish Teams for your company? And hats off to Sargent.
