I recommend leaving the Audit Trail on in the Master Estimate so changes in the Master can be logged and unintentional changes can be discovered. But for a new estimate, it is better to just start with a clean slate and not with an inherited Audit Trail from the Master. This is a relatively new setting. Below is the location of the check box to activate it.
